Arrest History in DeKalb County
An arrest can leave records at several offices. The arresting agency writes the probable-cause and incident material. DeKalb County Jail records intake and custody. The State's Attorney decides whether to file Illinois charges, and the Circuit Clerk then maintains the judicial case. Fingerprints from a custodial booking can travel to the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification.
That split matters. A police narrative is not a jail status, a booking allegation is not a filed charge, and neither is a conviction. DeKalb County Sheriff, DeKalb Police, Sycamore Police, Sandwich Police, ISP, and Northern Illinois University Police each retain records they created.

What an Arrest Record Shows
Agency and booking records can be linked, but they are not one document. Protected identifiers, juvenile information, victim data, medical details, and security material may be withheld or redacted. Because DeKalb County publishes no person-level roster, the online presence of a photo, full birth date, pod, bond, medical flag, warrant number, or court date is not verified.

Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
DeKalb County publishes monthly aggregate jail reports, not a public person-by-person booking log. March 2025 reporting listed an average daily population of 116, 157 new bookings, and one reactivated booking. It also showed 190 felony and 77 misdemeanor aggregate entries, 55 sentenced and 212 presentenced entries, and an adult electronic-home-monitoring average of 23.
These measures do not equal convictions or even a count of distinct charged crimes. Average daily population counts each person for each day held. A reactivated booking can follow a Drug Court, Mental Health Court, or similar specialty-court violation and is not a fresh arrest. Aggregate reports support system analysis, not a search for names.
The detailed monthly material reported 125 non-sentenced bookings with 3,194 custody days and 32 regularly sentenced bookings with 400 days. Fifty-three transports consumed 307 staff hours. Those operational totals describe jail workload and movement. They should not be recast as a local crime trend, and they cannot identify any individual booking.

DeKalb Intake and Pretrial Release

A person under monitored release can therefore be outside the jail while still subject to court-ordered controls. Confirm the court order and custody status rather than reading one monthly statistic as a personal record.
Arrests vs Convictions
The distinction is both legal and practical. An arrest marks a custody action based on an allegation. A conviction is a court judgment after a guilty plea or verdict. Dismissal, nolle prosequi, acquittal, or no filed charge can follow an arrest.
